This isn't a change in the quality of our pigs. It is simply an end-of-season opportunity as we prepare our farm and breeding program for the upcoming fall breeding season.

Breeding livestock has a rhythm to it.

Each year we plan our pairings, prepare our breeding animals and begin looking ahead to the next generation of piglets. As that new breeding season approaches, we would rather see our remaining youngsters settled into good homes than continue carrying them into another season.

That creates a pretty nice opportunity for someone who has been waiting for the right time to buy.

A Great Time to Start With Kunekunes

Kunekunes can be a wonderful fit for small farms, homesteads and families looking for a manageable pasture pig.

They are known for their generally friendly temperament, smaller stature compared with commercial hogs and ability to fit comfortably into a well-managed pasture system.

Whether you're looking for breeding stock, pasture companions or simply your first experience raising Kunekunes, starting with healthy pigs from an established breeding program matters.

Registered or Unregistered?

The right choice depends on what you intend to do with your pigs.

If you're purchasing pigs for a breeding program, registered animals give you documented pedigree information and allow you to make more informed decisions about future pairings.

At BF Farm, we also encourage anyone buying Kunekunes for breeding to ask about the coefficient of inbreeding, or COI, of the pairing. We deliberately plan our breedings with genetic diversity in mind while also considering health, structure, temperament and overall Kunekune quality.

If you're looking primarily for pets, companions or animals for your homestead and don't need registration, one of our unregistered piglets may be an excellent—and very affordable—option.

You're Still Buying a BF Farm Pig

A sale price doesn't mean a sale-quality pig.

BF Farm has been breeding Kunekunes since 2011, and the same standards apply to these piglets regardless of what we charge for them at the end of the season.

Our breeding program emphasizes thoughtful pairings, low-COI planning where responsibly achievable, healthy and functional Kunekune type, temperament and long-term support for the people who take our pigs home.

We also stand behind our pigs with our genetic-soundness guarantee.

Most importantly, our relationship with our customers doesn't end when a pig leaves the farm. Questions about feeding, housing, fencing, breeding or simply figuring out what your pig is doing six months from now are always welcome.
